Participating in therapy can result in a number of benefits to you, including a better understanding of your personal goals and values, improved relationships, and resolution of the specific concerns that led you to seek therapy. Working toward these benefits, however, requires effort on your part. Change will sometimes be easy and swift, but it can also be slow and frustrating.
I offer a confidential, safe, and comfortable environment for you to to tell your story and explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Together, we will work towards giving you a better understanding of yourself and those around you. I will help you to access your inner strengths and learn how to cope better with the stresses and challenges that life presents.
As part of my therapeutic process, I use several techniques including psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy. I am very flexible in my style as a therapist because each person who comes to see me needs something different. Some people need education; some need compassion; some need to learn how to laugh at life; some need to learn how to say what they need.
Each session is 50 minutes long. If you would like to schedule a longer session, please let me know and we can discuss availability and pricing.
The duration of therapy is dependent of the length of time it takes for you to meet your goals. Sometimes issues can be resolved swiftly and sometimes it can take longer. In addition, sometimes the events in an individual’s life can lead him or her to change the goals mid-way through therapy. There is no right or wrong amount of time for you to be in the process of therapy. It is about what is comfortable and right for you.

I typically suggest that you plan on meeting with me weekly for the first several months. By the time someone makes an appointment, the issues that they are experiencing have often reached a level of crisis. Meeting weekly gives us an opportunity to really get to know each other and the issues that are presenting. It also allows us to take advantage of the momentum in addressing the serious issues in your life and spend less time “playing catch-up”. After a few months, if you feel that significant changes have occurred and there are fewer crises, we can discuss the possibility of changing the frequency of our meetings.
